HOW TO CARE FOR COPPER JEWELRY

  • Continuous exposure to air and moisture is what causes copper jewelry to tarnish.  Therefore, you should store your jewelry in airtight, re-sealable, plastic bags.  This will cut down on the amount of new tarnish that develops.  This is something you should do with your silver jewelry as well.
  • Polishing your jewelry with a jewelry-polishing cloth both before and after you wear it will help to maintain it in a lustrous, tarnish-free condition.
  • You could also coat your copper jewelry with nail polish, car wax, or a clear acrylic lacquer to protect it from discoloration.  This will also serve to prevent your skin from turning green when you wear the piece.
